Young Horse Care & Training Fee Schedule

(Age is determined as of January 1st of the current year)

Weanlings – $700/month

(Under 1 year old)

• Feed Includes:

o 2 lb of 14% pellet feed

o 1 flake of alfalfa

o Full access to coastal round bale

• Care & Services:

o Stall access for 4-6 hours daily

o Daily handling

o Blanketing as needed

o Introduction to farrier care (rasp/foot stand/tapping on hoof…)

Yearlings – $750/month

(Must be halter-broke and able to pick up all 4 feet)

• Feed Includes:

o 3 lb of 14% pellet feed

o 2 flakes of alfalfa

o Full access to coastal round bale

• Care & Services:

o Stall access for 4-6 hours daily

o Daily handling

o Blanketing as needed

Introduction to farrier care (rasp/foot stand/tapping on hoof…)

o 1 weekly ground work session, including lunging

o Bathing

• Additional Information:

o Initial month fee of $1,500 if the horse is not halter-broke and unable to pick up all 4 feet

o Farrier as needed will incur additional charges, added to the monthly invoice

2-Year-Olds – $1,000/month

(Must be halter-broke, able to lead, lunge, cross-tie, bathe, and respect handler)

• Feed Includes:

o 4 lb of 14% pellet feed

o 2 flakes of alfalfa

o Full access to coastal round bale

• Care & Services:

o Stall access for 4-6 hours daily

o Group turn out with other yearlings or ponies

o Daily handling

o Blanketing as needed

o Introduction to tack

o 2-3 lunge sessions/week (with tack)

o Mounting and dismounting in Fall before 3 yr old year.

o Bathing

o Clipping

o Trailer loading

• Additional Information:

o Farrier services will incur additional charges, added to the monthly invoice

3-Year-Olds – $1,350/month

(Must have been boarding on facility for prior 6 months and ready for under saddle training in full size arena)

• Feed Includes:

o 4 lb of 14% pellet feed

o 2 flakes of alfalfa

o Full access to coastal round bale

• Care & Services:

o Stall 12 hours daily

o Private pasture 12 hours daily

o Lunge prep as needed

o Training rides (maximum 30 minutes, 4 rides/week)

o Bathing

o Blanketing as needed

• Additional Information:

o Farrier services will incur additional charges, added to the monthly invoice

Horses coming into training 2 years and older

Outside horses entering training 2 years and older will require a 30-day training/evaluation period. This evaluation will assess the horse’s progress and readiness for further training.

(Halter-broke, able to lead, lunge, cross-tie, bathe, and respect handler)

30-Day Evaluation – $1,800

• Week 1 

o gain confidence between horse and trainer 

o evaluate horses tolerance to halter/lead/lunge/crosstie/groom/bathe 

o Send owner update with video progress

• Week 2

o Progress with training toward appropriate age expectations

o Send owner update and video progress

• Week 3

o Continue progress with training toward appropriate age expectations

o Send owner update with video progress.

• Week 4

o Continue training toward appropriate age expectations

o Send owner update with video progress.

o At the end of the 30-day evaluation period, we will discuss the next steps and tailor a training plan and pricing based on the horse’s specific needs and progress.

 

(NOT halter-broke, NOT able to lead, lunge, cross-tie, bathe, or respectful to handler)

Due to the challenges of a bigger, stronger and often more determined animal, horses that are entering training after the age of 2 will require a 30 day training/evaluation:

30-Day Evaluation – $2,500 

 

• Week 1 

o Begin basic handling halter breaking/leading

• Week 2

o Progress with ground training

o Send owner update and video progress

• Week 3

o Continue progress with training toward appropriate age expectations

o Send owner update with video progress.

• Week 4

o Continue training toward appropriate age expectations

o Send owner update with video progress.

o At the end of the 30-day evaluation period, we will discuss the next steps and tailor a training plan and pricing based on the horse’s specific needs and progress.

 

 

 

Additional Cost

• Special Feed:

o Horses that require special feed or additional feed due to size, weight, or growth will incur additional charges. These will be invoiced separately.

General Terms:

• All fees are invoiced on a monthly basis and are due by the first of each month.

• Farrier services, when applicable will be invoiced separatelyfrom board/training fees

• We take great care in providing individual attention to each horse to ensure they reach their full potential.
